Pearl Celebrates MRBA's 30th Anniversary

Dear reader, where were you in the summer of 1996? If you are a young dog like Pearl, you may not have been around. But, perhaps you are amongst a group of concerned citizens in Richford Vermont that want to see the water quality of the Missisquoi River improve. Many meetings later, a group that would come to be known as the Missisquoi River Basin Association was formed.

Over the past 30 years, the MRBA has worked to restore and maintain the ecological

integrity of the Missisquoi River system so that the uses and values desired by the community are supported by the waterways and the quality of their waters. This has been done through tree planting, water quality monitoring, land owner connections, community events, educational programming and large scale projects such as the Sleeper Pond Dam Removal and the creation of our very own native plant nursery, Ironwood Nursery.

The staff, board, community volunteers, and friends of the MRBA want to celebrate the past 30 years of conservation success with you! Join us on Saturday November 14th in Montgomery from 4:00pm-9:00pm. Learn more about the event and what to expect from the night below!

Located at the Montgomery Center Town Hall (Grange), this will be an evening of fun that will include food and drinks from Mill River Brewing, music by The Tenderbellies, local raffle & silent auction items, good conversation, and more!

Silent auction items include gift cards to local businesses such as Miso Hungry, Lawson’s, First Trax, Bates Home and Garden, Higher Ground, and VT Salt Caves. Event attendees will also have the chance to bid on hand made art such as a wooden bowl from Alan Stirt Woodturner, Vermont Wood Company earrings, stained glass river scene, felt wall hanging, crochet shawl, and a framed pen and ink mushroom drawing. Other silent auction items include a full Northern Forest Canoe Trail map set, two Jay Peak day ski passes, two Jay Peak water park passes, an Umiak tandem kayak or canoe rental gift certificate, Sweet Mountain Chocolate, and a Brandons Maple gift box.

There will also be raffle items that event attendees can purchase raffle tickets for at the event.

We are extremely grateful for all of our amazing community contributions!
